Tough Path to Citizenship Martini

On the eve of Super Tuesday, let’s take a moment to toast a great American hero, Casimir Pulaski.

A native of Poland, he saved the life of George Washington during the American Revolutionary War and became a general in the Continental Army. He died of wounds suffered in the Battle of Savannah. Pulaski is one of only seven people to be awarded honorary United States citizenship.

Every March 4, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana recognize Casimir Pulaski with state holidays, particularly popular in Chicago and Milwaukee.

Tough Path to Citizenship Martini
Makes 4 (5 oz.) martinis

Some paths to citizenship are tougher than others...this cocktail is designed to spare you any pain.

3/4 cup chilled Polish vodka (Belvedere, Chopin, Sobieski)
3/4 cup chilled honey flavored liqueur (Krupnik)
1 cup apple juice

Combine vodka, liqueur and apple juice in small pitcher.

Pour over crushed ice in cocktail shaker; strain into chilled martini glasses.

Tip:
Keep martini glasses, vodka and other liqueurs in the freezer for perfect cocktails whenever you're in the mood.

Dedicated to Joe Slusarczyk.
